Find me on:

With 200 stands and attracting around 4,000 delegates, Buy Yorkshire is the North’s biggest B2B conference and exhibition.

This highly-anticipated annual business event is nearly here.

On May 15th, some of the biggest names in business will be heading to Leeds First Direct Arena for Buy Yorkshire 2018. This one-day event brings together thousands of business leaders, stakeholders, entrepreneurs and teams from the business community to Yorkshire, eager to listen to and share experiences, network, develop relationships, learn and trade.

Buy Yorkshire is hosted by The Yorkshire Mafia. Since founding in 2008, The Yorkshire Mafia is a leading business membership organisation in Yorkshire and, with more than 21,000 members, is the largest active business networking group outside London.

Throughout the day a series of talks and seminars are set up, led by leading figures and panels, who talk about pressing issues and offer challenging views on subjects affecting the economy and the business community.

200 exhibition stands are set up in one exhibition hall, allowing delegates to meander round, talk to different businesses, network, and become acquainted with a diverse range of businesses in Yorkshire and beyond.

Whose speaking at Buy Yorkshire 2018?

From entrepreneurs who have, through grit and determination, propelled themselves to incredible success, to exciting innovators who are helping to change the business landscape, this year’s Buy Yorkshire will see many inspiring figures stand up and speak.

Microsoft’s Customer Service Director, Uzmar Sattar will be talking about how to achieve more through customer success and explaining how technology can help organisations transform their business and cultures.

Alison Munro, Chair of National College for High Speed Rail, is also taking centre stage, speaking about the opportunities and jobs created by HS2, the skills gaps Britain is faced with, and the importance of having diversity in the workforce.

Jamie Woodruff, Europe’s number one ethical hacker and Technical Director at Metrix Cloud is also taking centre stage, talking about the importance of system and network security and the evolution of hacking.

Other key speakers include Alex Cruz, Chairman and CEO of British Airways, Chris Hamilton, Head of Digital Communications at No.10 Downing Street, Emilio Zunino, Regional Manager at Uber Eats,  and Anastasia Emmanuel, Head of Growth at Foodchain, amongst many more.

Leeds as a leading business hub

The fact that such a high-profile and important business event, the biggest B2B conference in the North, is held in Leeds, demonstrates just how important the Yorkshire city is a business community and hub.

Buy Yorkshire and the prestigious names who speak at the event, is yet another example of how Leeds and other northern cities, are becoming vibrant business hubs to rival London.

With cheaper office space compared to the capital, convenient transport links to major locations around the country and international airports, not to mention having access to a great pool of talent, much of which is due to the many graduates who stay on in Leeds after graduating from one of the city’s three universities, it’s hardly surprising that many London businesses are relocating to Leeds.

Being a fantastic city to do business, it’s also little surprise, why Leeds is the home of Buy Yorkshire, which consistently attracts compelling line-ups of business speakers, bringing the brightest business minds in Britain to the heart of Yorkshire.
